What is Disney World Like in March?

During the early spring, Florida definitely lives up to its ‘Sunshine State’ moniker.

Expect the thermometer to read anywhere from the cool 50s to the pleasantly warm mid-70s.

But don’t forget that Florida’s weather can be unpredictable.

Some days are sunny enough for shorts and tees, perfect for enjoying those outdoor rides, while other days might have you reaching for a comfy hoodie as you stroll down Main Street, U.S.A.

The key? Layering. This unpredictability makes it essential to pack a variety of clothing options.

Also, don’t forget about Florida’s signature humidity. Even in March, the air can feel a bit heavier, making the days feel warmer and the nights slightly chillier than you might expect.

Mornings and evenings in the parks might require a light layer, but you’ll likely be in t-shirts or light clothing most afternoons.

March in Florida is all about being prepared for anything

Disney World in March Packing List:

1. T-shirts and long-sleeved shirts:

Florida can’t make up its mind, so layering is your best friend.

Start with a short-sleeved T-shirt and keep the long-sleeve shirt on standby.

Be sure to check out Disney’s line of spirit jerseys.

They are so cute and a great long-sleeved option.

Layering will allow you to be flexible and adjust to temperature fluctuations.

2. Sweatshirt or cardigan

Florida mornings can be surprisingly crisp, and evenings gently cool.

A light sweatshirt or a stylish cardigan will be your best pals for those cooler parts of the day.

3. Pants and shorts:

Pack both pants and shorts to match the day’s forecast and your adventure plans.

Be ready for the change in temperatures with breathable, cottone athletic shorts, leggings, or joggers.

If jeans are your thing, you can rock those, too.

4. Socks:

Have you ever heard the saying, “There’s nothing worse than wet socks at Disney?”

Me neither, but it’s true.

Pack enough to keep your feet dry and happy, especially if those sneaky rain showers decide to join your vacation.

 5. Rain gear

Speaking of rain, springtime Florida showers like to make surprise appearances.

Pack a raincoat, a poncho, and maybe even an umbrella to shield against those unpredictable drops.

I’m not going to lie:  even when it’s not raining, sometimes I will throw on my poncho on water rides like Kali River rapids.

6. A dressier outfit:

Feeling fancy for a special Disney dinner at Disney Springs or one of the nearby resort hotels

Sometimes, amidst all the park fun, you want to feel fancy for a night out, so you want to be prepared.

While most restaurants are still very casual, planning a slightly elevated outfit will make the night special.

7. Mickey ears:

You’re in Disney, baby! Flaunt those Mickey ears and wear that goofy hat.

Choose your favorite pair and wear them with pride. It’s the ultimate accessory in the land of Mickey!

8. Park bag:

This is where you are going to want to store all the essentials.

Snacks? Check!

First aid kit?  You’ve got it.

Portable charger? Check!

You will want a sturdy and comfortable bag to hold all your stuff!

Other Packing Must-Haves:

9. Sunscreen and chapstick:

The Florida sun loves attention.

Especially in the spring! Make sure you protect your skin and lips with sunscreen and chapstick.

10. Water bottles:

Stay hydrated, my friends!

With all the excitement, it’s easy to forget to drink water.

Bring a refillable bottle and keep sipping. Your body will thank you later.

11. First aid kit:

For those little oops moments, a first aid kit is a must-have.

A band-aid here, a pain reliever there, and you’re back to the fun without missing a beat.

12. Sunglasses:

Your eyes deserve the VIP treatment, too.

The sun can be a beast in Central Florida.  Protect them with some cool shades.

13. Ziplock bags:

These are surprisingly handy for keeping your phone dry during water rides or storing those half-eaten snacks.

14. Stroller

For families traveling with little ones, YOU NEED A STROLLER.

I repeat, YOU NEED A STROLLER.  Nothing is worse than tired little legs that refuse to walk at the end of the night.

Carrying a small child after a long park day is not fun!

15. Magic bands:

These are not just bracelets; they’re your keys to the kingdom!

They hold your tickets and genie+ fast passes and can even act as your wallet.

Shop Disney Store has an amazing variety of products to choose from.

16. Swim Suit:

Even though spring can still have some chilly days, your Walt Disney World resort pools will be heated, and the fun is non-stop.

March was a perfect time for my kids to jump in the pool, and they were perfectly comfortable.

Be sure to pack that swimsuit and dive in.

17. Comfortable walking shoes

If there’s one thing you absolutely must pack for a trip to Disney World, it’s a pair of comfy shoes.

You don’t want angry feet.

Most people will wear tennis shoes, sturdy flip-flops, and crocs.

Pro tip:  If you buy new shoes, make sure to break them in before the start of your trip.  You will thank me later.

What NOT to Wear (and Bring) to Disney World: Your Handy Guide to Do’s and Don’ts

Let’s be honest: packing for Disney World can be a tad challenging.

You want to bring all the essentials without overburdening yourself.

Remember, it’s not just about what you bring but also about what you leave behind.

Here are some critical no-nos for your Disney packing list:

Non-Breathable Fabrics

Florida’s weather calls for fabrics that let your skin breathe.

Materials that trap heat and moisture (looking at you, polyester!) can quickly turn your magical day into a not-so-comfortable experience.

Cotton and other breathable fabrics are your best friends in the park/

Non-Family-Friendly apparel.

Disney World is perfect for families and kids of all ages

So, let’s keep the attire and accessories PG.

Disney has its own dress codes, so check the website.

This means saving those edgy T-shirts and risqué outfits for another occasion.

Selfie Sticks

We all love capturing those picture-perfect Disney moments, but selfie sticks are a no-go in the parks.

They’re not just banned; they’re a real hazard on rides and can ruin the experience for others.

But don’t worry! Disney’s got you covered with PhotoPass photographers who are pros at snapping those magical moments.

Wagon Strollers

Navigating through the bustling parks with little ones can be a challenge.

While strollers are indispensable for those tiny, tired legs, Disney parks have a strict policy against wagon-style strollers.

Opt for a traditional, compact stroller to easily make your way through the crowds.
